What is Stress Simulation?

Stress analysis is a simulation tool on Autodesk Fusion which gives the user an opportunity to experiement with virtual designs, to understand if and how the part will fail when under different loads. By doing so, the user can check for deformation, find weak points and compare materials, which help towards creating a high performing design ready to be set up for manufacture.

Course Objectives

Understand the fundamentals of what stress analysis is, and its use in industry
Learn how to set up and generate a stress analysis study on Autodesk Fusion
Develop a knowledge of how results can be analysed in different ways, and generate a report
Further understanding through developing studies and analysing them independently

Module 1 - Introduction to Stress Analysis

- Definitions and concepts of stress analysis

- Advantages and disadvantages of stress analysis

- Industry relevance/uses, including case studies

Module 2 - Setting Up a Stress Study

- Overiew of the simulation user interface

- Setting up design parameters (materials, physical properties)

- Adding loads to a design to show working conditions

Module 3 - Generating Results

- Analysing the results, showing the different aspects of the part

- Exporting results as a video and report generation

- Post simulation advice/steps to take to improve designs

Module 4 - Gaining Independence

- Applying learnt skills using existing parts/designs

- Developing models in preparation for stress simulation

- Running studies with limited/no guidance
